Irish Ayes Fluking 7-17
« on: July 17, 2008, 10:25:05 PM »
Bob G, Matt, Steve and I arrived at the dock at 8 this morning. Went north out of the inlet and made our first stop off of Asbury. No wind, no drift, no fluke.  :'(

Headed further north with the target location being off the antenna at Long Branch, about a half mile off the beach. Arrived at our destination to be greated with birds working above a pod of bunker. Unfortunately for the bunker, bluefish were working under them. Broke out the spinning outfits and tossed some metals into the frey.  Everyone was immediately hooked up with 8 pound bluefish. Chinese fire drill going for a while. Blues were jumping out of the water pushing the bunker out with them right at boatside. Fish didn't seem to mind the boat at all! After our initial hook ups the blues were gone, jbut not before Steve managed to bring in his second blue. Didn't see them resurface anywhere.  5hrug

Put some fluke lines down and picked at some small fish. Moved out to deeper water and found two keeper fluke, largest being 5.3 pounds and just shy of 24 inches. Also had a seabass at 13 inches.

The crew saw another whale today, several pods of dolphin, had several shark on again and we threw back at least a half dozen small ling.

Our catch for the day.

Nice report Joe, and nice catch. Variety is the spice of life, and you have a nice mixed bag there. Nice sized fluke too. Nice pics, and love all that open space on the Parker, great boats.
