Fluka's 7/19 Report
« on: July 20, 2008, 04:02:38 PM »
Tough day for the crew of the Fluka Brasi ..Pulled  out of Keansburg  with Dave and Rob about 0630.. Made the short run to the Reach for our first few drifts.  Despite a decent drift with the steady morning breeze, we only managed a few shorts and not many bites.. Continued to move along the Reach, hitting a few aother spots with similiar results. Picked up a few more shorts on a few drops around the Hook before heading outside..First drift along the Beach produced a considerable increase in action with fish coming up fast for a while..All short save one 18-1/4" that Dave picked up on his secret homemade jig   ;) With the action pretty good, we stuck it out in the general area for most of the outgoing, but never laid hands on another keeper. So, total for the day was 1 in the box out of 40-50 shorts, with several just a few meals short of legal. We had plenty of laughs too..like when Dave got off balance  when the boat rolled as he was swinging in a Fluke, and he wacked me in the back of the head  with it. It kinda slid up and over and sat of the top of my head for a second or 2..Oh they really yukked it up over that one.  hhppy

Thanks for the report!

Great report Mark.
Good day with friends is what it is about.

Were they trying to tell you that you need a new hair doo or a new hat when that flounder plopped down on your head?

Good info, nice report. At least you guys had action, and a good time. Keepers have been tough all over lately, from what I've been hearing.

Nice report Mark, you had plenty of  action with the shorts(hopefully Septembers keepers)for your crew.
Wearing a Fluke Hat could be the  next new thing to  cool off in this heat.
Sounds like everybody had fun.
