took 2nd place in small tourney
« on: July 26, 2008, 09:05:23 PM »
Had Bob Cole, Andy, JohnnyOz and John B on board today. We fished a local hunting/fishing club fluke tournament.

Headed north out of Shark River inlet. Made our first stop off of Asbury Park, 50 feet of water. Water temp was 68 degrees. There was hardly a breeze. Made several drift thru this spot and brought in one keeper and several throw backs.

Moved further north to a lump off of the red church, three miles off the beach. No one home there.

Went further north to the Rattlesnake, Shrewsbury Rocks and Sandy Hook reef site. Caught several keepers at each spot we stopped on.

Finished the day with twelve keeper fluke, one keeper seabass and six very nice sized ling.

Took second place in the tourney with 19+ pounds for a five fish weigh in. First place was 23+ pounds. Got beat out for largest seabass. Our fish was 2.09 pounds, winning seabass was 2.2 pounds.

Received cash to split with the crew and a nice trophy to display.

Took pics with a camera that unknowingly was broken. Went to retrieve the pics to post and found the lense did not completely open.  :-\

Only 16 boats entered. That's why I said it was a small tourney.   t^

Still a lot of fun, just the competition and good eats afterward.  ;D
