Tough day 7/26
« on: July 26, 2008, 09:40:49 PM »
My brother Jay broke the skunk today for his first keeper fluke of the season!  He, his buddy Brian and I decided late last night to give the RB east reach a shot around the 9, 10 buoys.  Got there right around the bottom of the tide and shortly after water began to move he connected with a nice 18.5".  5-6 shorts made it to the rail and returned for another day.  Brian had a couple of shorties and it looked like it was going to be a promising day.  About an hour into it, things got pretty slow.  Since the seas were relatively flat, decided to work our way west through the reach.  The action all but came to a halt so we moved even further up the reach to continue the hunt.   Tide was beginning to move nicely but wind started to crank out of the west then SW making conditions less than optimal.  Cross channel drifts were the name of the game and we were sliding real fast.  Threw the sock and put the brakes on to boat a few more shorts and 3 more keeper.  Largest just under 20".    Called it a day around 1:30 and headed for port.  Heres a couple pics of the crew and catch.

Pilot,
Nice catch for bro Jay & friend.  I had to work Friday morn so Nick, ny nephew Nick & I went out for a PM trip Friday afternoon.  Tried the old faithfull western part of the bay but the drift was too fast.  Went over to the Reach by 12 and caught 2 keeps.  When the tied changed, went back to old faithfull and caught 2 more keeps. We ended up with 2 nice 4 lbers and 2 @ 18 inches.  Wife & I went crabbing on Sat down in Bayville and got 30 crabs for dinner.  All in all a good weekend. Miss you man!!! Tbone

Good report, you had action and some keepers, not a bad day at all.
