Reel Class Fluke 7/30
« on: July 30, 2008, 04:37:26 PM »
Had Dennis Barnes and his buddy Danny along w/ his 11 year old son Daniel aboard for an early morning, river-only fluke trip.

Fished mostly between Clark's and the 35 bridge to start. Started out at 6:15 at the very top of the tide, and had immediate action with micro fluke in the 10-14" range, had at least 1-2 on for the first 3 and a half hours. Mixed in with the micros were a good amount of 17" plus fish.

As the outgoing began to really rip, the action slowly dropped off to a slow pick.

Wound up with over 50 fluke boated, and 5 nice fat keepers up to 19.5" in the box when we quit at 11. Had a lot of fish just miss the mark again. Danny Jr. got 2 of the keepers and decked the biggest fish of the day, made the kid's day!

Fished live killies on a 36" fish finder, and gulp on leadheads, again on light to ultra light tackle to maximize sport. These guys had a great time, and went home with a nice bag of fillets. Good trip!

Nice job.

Your buddy DK on the Foggy Notion had a #8 in ther river today (read this on the WMI site). According to his report the fish were on the channel edges and not up on the flats.

I intend to bring a light spinning rod next week with hopes that we'll finish up our FTYP trip in the river.
