Tackle Storage
« on: August 01, 2008, 12:58:04 AM »
Anyone have any suggestions, recommendations or favorite tackle storage boxes, bags, etc...

I have already outgrown my tackle box and have shopped around and not gotten any closer to a decision.  Why couldn't this be as easy as my surf fishing bag??

Thanks in advance!!

Well lets see, I would look at the soft sided bags........they have the plastic pullout trays/boxes, a number of zippered pockets..each one of my soft sided bags is setup for differant fishing 9all are differant colors also)

On the boat I have one hard plastic tackle box, three soft sided tackle bags with plastic holders/trays, one soft sided bag with storm Shads, Gulp, Fin S, etc. two nylon cases with plugs, three nylon cases with unbrella rigs.

everything in a place every place has a thing TT^

I would agree with CaptBob. The soft sided bags are great. The plastic boxes are what makes them ideal.

Purchase extra boxes and arrange your boxes by the type of fishing you will be doing. Then you need only carry the boxes in the soft sided bag for that particulat trip. Beats carrying around 25 pounds of extra gear and everything is confined to one bag.

Label the boxes with a Brother's (or similar) label maker and you are all set.  t^

Personally, I have a twenty-five foot tackle box (my boat) and still don't have everything I need with me.  ;D

Did the same and it works well. Switch out the box that you don't need.

Fishing from the boat Like Capt. Joe says, The whole boat turns into a tackle box. The plastic trays are my best friend only I stand my on end into a smaller sized plastic storage tote, I think I have 12 lined up in there then 2 in the tackle storage trays build into the boat. One hard tackle box. Then I have a Square plastic bucket that you get bulk dry wall screws in that I divided into 6 compartments for sinkers ranging from 4 oz. up to 10 ozs. An 1 small rectangular shaped Temperware for leader material.  TT^

My fishing is primarily done from the surf and mostly on Island Beach State Park.  I, like Joe from the Irish Ayes, keep most of my equipment on board all the time.  I use a hard sided system with slide out trays plus a couple of extras for terminal tackle.  I also have larger plastic containers that I keep things like hardware (pliers Boga grip and shovels)in to keep the sand down in the vehicle.  Plus I keep a bigger plastic tote container for all the equipment that I have to carry as long as I am on the beach this way if I am asked to produce anything I just slide it to the back and the Ranger can look in one place to find everything he is looking for.

All this sounds like a lot to just go fishing but if I have to use the vehicle for other things it just takes a few minutes to clear everything out and I'm done.

Happy Catching

Thanks for all of the good information!  I figured my best bet would be a couple of bags with extra storage boxes.  I think I need to get me a plastic bait binder as well or something to hold my worms, etc.  ;D

Paul, I showed my wife your setup when you go fishing...thanks for taking all of the heat off of me.  She complains that I have TOO much fishing stuff and that it takes up all of the room in the car...and I only bring a small lure bag and my surf rod!!   hhppy

Thanks again!  I also apologize for posting this in the wrong forum.  I meant this to be in the Freshwater Fishing Forum, not Freshwater Fishing Reports.  If someone has the power to move it feel free to.
