FB Friday..Late Report

Took a day off Friday as my nephew Bryan came down from Albany for his first trip aboard the Fluka Brasi and his first time fishing in saltwater. Joining us was Dave, and  bro' Rob. Due to Bryans long commute to the boat we did not leave Keansburg until about 9am. Being his 1st time, I wanted to get him into something that tugged, so went looking for Bluefish. Headed down to Shrewsbury Rocks, and went on the troll pulling Umbrellas, and spoons.  While most of the season we've been nearly overrun with blues, this day we just could'nt find them.. Trolled from the Rocks to about the Rattlesnake, without a touch. Finally switched over to Fluking, and immediatly had action with shorts and a few C-bass. Only 1 Keeper Fluke came aboard, but Bryan caught it, so he was thrilled.. He also got a big kick out of catching a Dogfish.. I think most of us overlook how excited newbies get when seeing their first shark up close, no matter how mundane it seems to us. Weather was gorgeous all day, with a light breeze and flat seas. While the fishing was slow, we all had a great time and tons of laughs. We called it quits at about 4pm to allow Bryan to start his long drive home with our 1 keeper Fluke and a couple C-bass.

 t^ funny when you don't want those blues they are all over, go figure looks like a gorgeous day on the water though

Nice job and good report.I'm sure Bryan was happy, and a good effort to put him on fish by Fluka Brasi.Sounds like all had a good time.

Treebeard, great report, and great pics. Sounds like a nice day out on the water with family/friends, and thats what it's all about, and your nephew got a keeper his first time salwater fishing. Sounds like an excellent day to me.
