Left the dock with Bob Cole, Bob G, Matt and John S aboard. Ran directly to Shrewsbury Rocks. Made several floats (there was hardly a drift) with no results. Tried the Rattlesnake, nothing. Hit the Coleman wreck, managed two keeper fluke and some shorts. Hit some rock piles on the SH reef, nothing.
Started heading back south stopping on several of our spots. Had a 4-5 foot brown shark make an appearance at boatside. Swam around for a minute or two, checked out Bob G's bait (he cranked his line up to the surface and dangled it in from of the shark) but the shark wouldn't take it.
Ended the day with nine keeper fluke up to 21 3/4", many throwbacks and three ling that were large enough to keep. Livelined a small ling and caught a 16" fluke with it.
Baits for the day were shark belly, squid, spearing and smelt. Tried spros and managed to do nothing with them but give them up to the rocks. It's funny how quickly the rocks grab them.
No wind in the morning made for a float with movement provided by the current only. Slow pickings. Wind picked up slightly in the afternoon, starting from the NW and swinging to the SE at about 15 knots. Water temp today reached 73 degrees.
Won't be out again until Friday.
