I am not familiar with the area up there, but you could always try the Bay instead of the surf?  You might have better luck with snappers.  The beach has been hit or miss...not too much steady action anywhere!

Good Luck either way!

Welcome Aboard jerzeemike,

I haven't been up there in a long time but I am sure that a few guys will get on soon and fill you in.  Keyport has a good pier as well I know my Uncle brings hes Grandson there and I here it is pretty good for kids.

Again Welcome Aboard.

Happy Catching

Paul

The Keansburg pier can be fun. You can catch
blues and fluke there and the kid's will get
a good workout walking, the darned thing's
about a mile long. And maybe they can go on
a ride or two on the way home!

there's a place in old bridge you can fish at.  go to the end of laurence parkway where it meets 35.  there are several jettys with walkways and fences you can fish off of as well as small beaches.  i'd recommend going during high tide, though.  the water can get really low there.

I used to fish off a wall ( called The wall) off 35 , does anybody know the turnoff to get there I forgot how to get there... Thanks in advance guys.
