Certainly could help, but I see it as a "lolipop" or a "pacifier" you would give to a crying child!!  Keeps them quiet, but doesn't solve the problem...and eventually they forget what they were crying about.

Hope that isn't their answer for longterm, but it would put some of those 17 999/1000th of an inch throwbacks, as keepers!  I guess a couple slot fish per person on a boat would make it a worth while trip!?!?

Since I'm the only one who eats them, 2 keeper fluke and enough for my table, so in this case, I would benefit with the slot fish.

Nice Find  t^

I like the comment about closing the season for a week in July or August to allow a week towards the end of September...

I think 1 "slot" should do... with hopefully 1 keeper you should be good for at least some meat.

I like the 8 fish limit..

6 @ 18"
2 @ 17"

any smaller isn't even worth filleting.  IMO

I'm more in favor of something along the lines of 4 @ 17" with perhaps a bonus tag allwing you to keep an addition fluke that's 24"s or greater.

Being that my son accompanies me on 90% of my fluke trips and we usually only get the opportunity to get out once a week the above would give us a very reasonable expectation of each taking home our limit.

i have said this before. ban gulp. 8 fish between 14 and 18 inches, and 1 or two over 24 inches.  its give and take,we could argue this forever. there is enough meat on a 14 to 18 inch fish, especially if you have 8.they taste better smaller anyway. how many shorts get gut hooked and released only to die. that does more damage. make circle hooks mandatory, people will just have to get used to it.

How funny...this is exactly what I was talking about in the other thread.  This would be great for people like me.  You spend over a hundred dollars easy to go fishing and catch 80 shorts between four guys with 2 keepers.  If they would let each man keep at least one you wouldn't feel so bad dropping all the cash.  I know many people fish to get away from the wife and have a few beers.  I fish because I love to eat it.  That's why I have a boat.  It kills me as captain to go home with 2 or 3 fluke.  Naturally I give them to my guests and take nothing for myself but it's just ridiculous.  Everyone that goes boating for a day deserves at least one fish for himself.  Including the Capt...  t^
