Fishing for anything?
« on: August 29, 2008, 12:15:19 AM »
Hi there, i have a 21 foot center consule and ive been fishing all summer. I catch alot of good keeper fluke by i really want to nail some stripers, blues, or weafish. Can anyone tell me where my best bet is to find some? My boat isnt that big as you can tell so i cant be going offshore. Im located in the raritan bay so any hot spots in there would really help!

Kid

Welcome to the site looking forward to your posts.

Best bet for Blues in the Bay right now is around Round Shoal.  Weakies have not really started (we are all hoping they will), but Raritan Reach, Chapel Hill Channel, Shrewsbury/Navesink Rivers are all good when they start, a few fish have been picked here or there.

What Striper activity there has been has been at night along the shores. Early for the fall run yet.

Hope it helps TT^

Just look for birds to catch blues. The next game in the bay will hopefully be weakfish. If your coming from the western side of the bay the reach channel is a sure shot. Drift along the edges using sandworms with the same setup you use for fluke. They should start to show any day now.
