Calabreeze Pools (Review)
« on: September 02, 2008, 03:08:32 PM »
This place is horrible.

Owner Bruce.. useless. Fishes out of Toms River. Had a nice fishing discussion when we met, thought I had an "IN" with him.

Bought a new cover the season before last, the walk on trampoline type.  Water was building up and not draining into the pool like it should.  I call the company, they told me I had to adjust it.  I told them, isn't that your job.  They said no.

I tried adjusting it by hand, not knowing I needed a stretch tool to do it. Called him back, told him that this tool didn't come with the cover when I bought it, because I don't have it and never saw it.  He told me he trusted his workers and it was left with me when I bought the cover and if I needed another one I had to buy it.. WTF.. ( customers always right ) Right?

Early this season. $800.00 to fix a piece on the heater, claim I needed.. Couldn't guarantee that the problem won't happen next season.. Had no choice.

They also put in a filter on one of the systems I had which is a cylinder that screws open to drop in this special filter.  If you heard of it, its call the Frog system.  A few week later I went to replace the filter in the cylinder and couldn't get the top off as they put it on too tight.  I call again, claimed they can't do anything about it, even though I told them that there service guys were the last ones to touch it. NO SERVICE unless I paid $180.00 for a service call and then they again couldn't guarantee that there service guys were going to be able to remove it either.  (take the dam system off and get me a new one)  Right?  Not!

Today, they claim my screen in the center of my cover is rippend and I need a new one, $200.00, even though this is only the 2nd season with this cover. I ask, is it necessary to have.. they said YES.. of course..

PEOPLE, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.  THEY KEEP BAITING YOU TO PAY FOR THINGS THAT YOU SHOULDN'T PAY FOR. THEY WON'T GIVE YOU A GUARANTEE ON THERE WORK. THE OWNER TRUSTS HIS EMPLOYEES WAY TO MUCH AND DON'T TAKE THE CUSTOMERS WORD FOR ANYTHING.

Also, when I called, they claim if I want to pool cover stretcher, it will cost $40.00 and now they say that it never came with the cover.. I never heard of such a thing.  If you buy the cover, I am sure it will come with the tool needed to cover the pool..  5hrug

Ask this owner if he heard of the Better Business Bureau, or small claims court.

Thanks for the heads up, as I live in Toms River and have seen their trucks around I will be sure not to use them or suggest them.  Plus as I have a pool I am sure not going to use them either.

Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper with the details. My Dad did that a few years back with an issue he had with a contractor. That got them moving!  grtn

You know how it goes Nick.

If a place takes care of you, you tell 1 or 2 people. If they don’t you tell everyone.

The word on Calabreeze Pools will get out.

Sure...that's why the economy is the way it is!  Our fellow Americans are our own worst enemy.  Anything to make more money...$$$$$ is the name of the game.  People like this are the exact reason we have such high inflation and in the midst of a soon to be bad recession!!

Nothing I hate more than lying, cheating businesses!

going back to that container i couldn't and change the filter, I just left it shut for the entire season, THINKING that when they came and close the pool, they would have to open it.  When I got home from work yesterday, the lid on the container is still sealed tight.  Now next season they will want to charge me for a new one.

The Frog system is just like the one I use, Nature 2 by Zodiac.  I change my cartridge in the spring when I open the pool and it lasts all summer about 4 months or a little longer.

Simple to change.

yes, very similar, but when I went to change the cartridge and the top of the unit was stuck shut, after Calabreeze came and replace the first one, they wouldn't take responsibility for getting it stuck and will not come fix it.  Next season I have to replace it.
