Keyport waterfront report 9/14
« on: September 14, 2008, 12:41:04 PM »
I planned to hit the PP canal for some C&R Tog but after calling around found out I couldn't get crabs.

Decided to go with another plan. Took a ride Sat afternoon to South Amboy to get some sandworms. Got up in the middle of the night and headed to the Keyport waterfront thinking maybe I'd luck into a weakie or 2 with the sandworms.

No weaks or anything else to report except all the snappers you want. Switched to a light rod and a small Kastmaster got a bunch of snappers and called it a morning.

That really stinks on the crabs!  The Canal is really heavy with them.  Good try for the weakfish...they seem a bit elusive from shore this year.  Always a good time for those snappers though!  Nice catch.

Those snappers are always alot of fun on light tackle. As for the green crabs, try a crab pot out in the Manasquan River. Both Thursday and Friday I put my set my pot, just south of the canal on my way out, and picked it up on the way in and thats all I caught were loads of green crabs. I did'nt even set it today because I didnt want anymore greenies. If your the only one with crabs at the canal, the togs are all yours. >:D  <'((((><
I've spent most of my life fishing, the rest I've just wasted     <'((((><
