Salmon Fishing Monger report
« on: September 19, 2008, 11:39:20 AM »
Headed up to Salmon land in NY for 3 days with Capt Wayne, Met by stelly and Greg Day 2. Also seen Mr o conner and cb on day 3. Nice r&r needed the getaway . TT^

Our Buddy who lives up there gave us a call that a fresh run came up. Headed to Oswego 1st. Only 5 other peolple at the dam in the morning, gotta love sept and the early runs. Little crowded in the Non-wader zone.

Absolutely crushed them day one, Had our limit by 10am of legal mouth hooks.
Tons of hookups and fished released. 0ver 50 hookups each for me and wayne. Fish to 27lbs
With sore arms and no sleep we retired at lunch time.

Day 2 stelly and Greg met us up there... Action was slower but still good. Had to look for the as the water was lowered. I Still had around 20 hookups, and Stelly hooked a few. Greg and wayne landed legal limits. Although Wayne released his. i landed 1 small 2 lb rainbow as well released.

Got Lunch and headed to Catch and release fly zone on the salmon river. WOW!!! Forgot how much fun it was to land salmon on light fly gear.
Wayne and myself Hooked around 15 fish all released. Guy next to had a nice Steelhead. All on small balck stone flies.

Day 3 Back to the Dam, Fishing was ok everyone had plenty of hook ups mostly released, Think greg Kept a small fresh Jack. Went to Salmon river after lunch met Dan Oconner and cb Shark river Club, and went on the water with them. We had a few hookups but it was slow.

Checked out the Hatchery(loaded with cohos), got a bushell of fresh apples
and was home late last night. Great Trip with good friends, something different.

Nice ne wind and forecast to come home to >:(

Thanks. I'm mulling over heading up there in a couple of weeks. Been many times for Steelhead, never for Salmon.
