Rough Surf Warning...
« on: September 19, 2008, 12:52:45 PM »
Hi All,

Went out looking for some good shots and following some leads on the catching of the elusive bass.  Heard that the north side of the pier was being hammered but when I got there there was nobody on the beach.
s
Oh well I moved slightly north from there and decided to get the camera out and show you all what the sea looks like today.  I still might go out this evening and see what the beach is like.  If this keeps up the beach will look very different by the morning.  Which might not be a bad thing because the way it is now it is not working to well.

I also heard that there are blues slamming mullet in the pocket.  Not that is news but it tells me that the mullet run is gearing up to be a good one.

Happy Catching and enjoy the pictures.

That's some wild water there. Wouldn't pay to venture out in it on a small boat.  :P

Wow, I had no idea it was THAT bad.
I might go and see for myself, I love
the sound that kind of surf makes.

Good Luck guys.  When I was over at Grumpys the guys going out were loading up on mullet and AVA-27's with white tubes.

Just a reminder as well I do a Conditions report for the waters from Seaside Heights to IBSP.  If there is something you want put into that report let me know.

If you notice that I had 8oz + to hold bottom, well I had trouble with 10 on the conventional.

Happy Catching

Nice shots Paul.  A little rougher then yesterday morning when we were out there.
I'm stuck at work today, but at least I get pics from you guys.

It was very rough out there this evening!  Walked from L Street in SSP all the way to Top of the Mast and back!  Easy walking, since the sand is all packed down and hard from the water up there all day.  I was there at low tide, but the waves are still up around the high tide mark.  Whitecaps for as far as the eye can see.  Waves are big and constant and there is a vicious undertow!  Pretty wild from just some heavy easterly winds.  Didn't even try and throw any lures out.  We just walked the beach looking at all the treasures unearthed.  My son loves sliding down the sand cliffs that the waves have made.

Here are some pics I took.

Nice pics.  I think I saw a big fat striper in that cresting wave in the last pic. ;)

Can't be...I was at the beach!  The black cloud scared all the fish away rofla!

Definitely some good bass fishing conditions!  The wind just needs to calm down just a little bit for casting!

i didn't end up going.  i was more tired than i thought.  i laid down at 7:00 last night and didn't wake up until about 1/2 an hour ago.

think i'll wait till Sunday, now.  wind is gonna shift to the west and it should be warmer with a flatter ocean.

nice pics, gruven.  thanks!

Took a ride this morning after reading the weather late yesterday about the wind dying down.  They were wrong,  which is ok i guess....got a lil later start than i wanted anyway.  The tide was low and the waves were smashing the beach still.  Just like your pictures.  So tomorrow looks like it should be the day.

Giants game tomorrow.  We'll be baking up in the stands like usual.  I can't complain though, great seats right on the 27 yard line on the giants side 15 rows up, Sweet seats to bad it will be over after next year.   :'(
