Upper New York Bay 9-21-08
« on: September 21, 2008, 12:26:47 PM »
Instead of trying for the usual bluefish I tried something different today and went for porgies. Started out at about 8:30 using sandworms on a hi/low rig, hooked up after about 30 seconds and the fishing was pretty good for about 2 hours. Then around 10:30 it died down and only managed 2 porgies in the final hour, but I did catch seabass and a nice 15" striper. Total for the day was 15 porgies, 1 striped bass, 1 seabass, and 1 bluefish. Wraped it up around 11:30 and on my way out saw some more guys who said they had the same day as me.

Missed you by about an hour.

My son & I fished got to the kayak launch @ 12:30. Couple guys there were catching & keeping short porgies, sea bass & kingfish.

Action was slower than the past few times we were there. Jason only had 2 fish (1 snapper & 1 striper). I had 4 (1 snapper, 2 bass & 1 needlefish). Allot of bait in the water.

We tied a few different spots on Saturday;

-South corner of the walkway at Bayonne Park. Jason had 2 snappers.

-Port Liberte. Nothing

-Near the boat ramp at Liberty State Park. I had 4 snappers and Jason had 1 snapper and 1 17" striper.
