WOW!: The Wonders Of Wetlands
A Guide To Wetlands Education

HACKETTSTOWN NATURAL RESOURCE EDUCATION CENTER
at the Hackettstown State Fish Hatchery

Saturday, October 4, 2008
8:30 am to 3:30 pm

WOW! : The Wonders Of Wetlands has been called, "...the most comprehensive introduction to wetland issues and definitions..."  by the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE).

WOW! is an exciting and complete educational resource book of background material for teachers who are preparing wetland study units. The instructional guide for educators uses a hands-on approach to introduce teachers and other educators to wetlands and their unique characteristics. It provides a resourceful and creative collection of multidisciplinary wetland activities in lesson plan format, extensive background information on wetlands, ideas for student action projects, and a wetlands resource guide.  The materials are for K-12th grade, can be used indoor and outdoor, are correlated with National Science Education Standards, and are conceptually designed to build on knowledge, as students become more familiar with wetlands.

Participants receive the WOW! activity guide, Project Webfoot Kit with a class set of student materials, other resources and 6 credit hours for professional development. This is a rain or shine workshop, dress for the weather. Morning refreshments and lunch is provided.  For more information call (908) 637-4125. This workshop is sponsored by the New Jersey DEP Division of Fish & Wildlife. Support for this program is provided by Ducks Unlimited.
