Bait all over the place...
« on: September 28, 2008, 04:27:05 PM »
Hi All,

I was over at Ortley beach doing some scouting at low tide.  I was amazed at all the bait out there.  To far to get to even with the surf rocket but fish were breaking all over the place.  Birds were diving and there were Dolphins from the 3rd ave parking lot all the way to the pier.

Talking to another local who was fishing in Brick this morning he said the Dolphin were up there.

It seemed that the timing was right as the sun came out for about 1/2 an hour and everything went nuts out there.

I will be trying to get out tomorrow morning and catch the first light.  Hopefully these spottings mean the fish are real hungry and will go nuts as soon as the sun breaks the horizon.  I and others are excited at the prospects of a real good morning blitz.

There is a lot of really low water caused by the redistributing of the beach but there is also a number of new sloughs as well.  If you are into Fly Fishing go for it there are a lot of good small holes ripe for a nice juicy offering like a Clouser Minnow.

Happy Catching

Paul

I also went to AH yesterday to check on the Luna Sea and there were bunkers everywhere.  There dorsal fins were out of the water, they were so thick.  No cast net needed.

Columbus Day weekend, I will be at the shore house in Seaside Heights for the weekend with family, Uncle Luna may also be there.  After the Italian festival, and dinner, I am going to walk up to the beach off of Carteret Ave and spend a few hours fishing.  If anyone else is available, let me know.  I am sure I will be at IBSP before that, and if weather permitting, Luna Sea 3 will be making her first fall striper run this weekend.

I am shooting for 6:30 at Ortley Beach.  Small metals and maybe plugs but I think the metals will out do the plugs right now.  I do not think I will go the clam route but I have heard bass being caught on them over the weekend.

I am just going to keep it simple and pack the bag with metals like AVA's Krocks, Deadly Dicks stuff like that.

Thinking about going?

Sounds good...I live in TR so time is no problem, I can be there in a short time.

The reason I like Ortley (3rd Ave. parking lot) is because it is a short walk for me to get to the beach.  Being the tide will be high around 7:53 a short walk down the stairs and you should be fishing with in 10 yards or so.

I did some scouting today and there are some good holes at high tide within easy casting range.
