Yep, you read it right in the title line, I'm actually posting a tog report from my boat today LOL
Anyway, had Bluefish Steve and his buddy Ron, Brian Arrabito and Capt Alan Beneroff from Netkeeper aboard today for a smorgasbord trip to fish the inside targeting bass, weakfish, porgies, kingfish, and blackfish.
Started out throwing shads at the bridges, at the end of the incoming. Once the tide started backing off, we got into some small bass in the 18-24" range on spinning gear throwing the shads right at the abutments. Fun stuff!
Slack water we switched over to worming, only to hook several short fluke and short seabass at a few other spots.
At 10AM, we headed to the tog spot. Anchored at first, but couldn't get the boat to sit right, so we pulled the anchor and went to a couple of real good spots a little further in, power drifted, and and had lock and load tog for 2 + hours at the end of the incoming through the slack and into the outgoing. Burned up a half a bushel of greenies in no time, boated ~100 blackfish, counted at least 15 keepers to 17" while keeping our boat limit of 5 fish.
Once the current started ripping, it was back to worming - more small seabass, a lafayette, and 1 real nice kingfish by Alan. We then finished up at 1PM worming the bridges again, and picked up a few more short bass.
Wound up with 6 short bass (18-24"), another half dozen "short" fluke, about 2 dozen short seabass, the umpteen blackfish, 1 big kingfish and 1 spot. Real smorgasbord!! fun day!!
