Raritan Bay 9/28
« on: September 29, 2008, 04:28:53 PM »
Woke up at 5am to 0.1mi visibility and driving rain in Edison so didn't even wake anyone. Watching the weather, the fog was lifting slowly, so by 10 the vis was up to 1.25mi and decided to go for a look see. Christine gave me that sideways look and decided to stay home.  rofla
Met Tombo down at the boat (he's a game fish) along with some more driving rain which quickly ended. Off we go to find a calm bay with 5-10kt winds and water temp a murky 67°. Tried some rockpiles pitching clams, some trolled plugs, metals, even some worms with very limited success. The sun came out, but the fish were lockjawed. Moved further east, a bit past the Old Orchard Light, but never got near the Hook. Hooked up a few monster skates but nothing really fishy to speak of. The season is winding down quickly-- somehow felt like we made something out of nothing. Well Sort of....
