Late reports... 10/1 and 10/2
« on: October 04, 2008, 05:09:14 PM »
better late than never, I guess...  ;D
On 10/1, I fished the eastriver after a dock mate showed me his east river striper on 9/30. I hit it with eels and some plastic shads. Got one striper at 24" on the eels and the rest were gorilla blues...12# and up easy. managed a few more stripers on the palstic shad tipped with snad worms. This was all on the ebbing tide.
On 10/2 I tried to head down to the SH reef for some bottom fishing and could not get past the Ambrose channel due to the cross winds. CC boats + strong cross winds = wet shorts. Headed back in to nortons point for some C Bass ans some Porgies, nothing big. Went to the VZ bridge to see if any weakies were around...they were not. This was all during the flood tide. Headed back up to try the East river again. Didn't have any eels, but the stripers didn't seem to mind. Had two stripers to 26" by the UN and three by the Hells Gate.
No eels = no blues.

again, my bad for the late reports...   rgmn

I heard that someone who was fishing there that day was killing the Stripers on plastic worms and all they got on the eels were blues. Gonna have to get my weakfish lures out again. Gonna go fish the ebb tide tomorrow...
