The U.S. Coast Guard and a Good Samaritan rescued five people who were aboard a boat that began taking on water about a mile off the coast of Long Branch, authorities said.
Around 2:35 p.m. Sunday, the Coast Guard received a call from a crewmember aboard the 36-foot Chiokat, who reported the boat was taking on water.
A Good Samaritan and a rescue boat crew from the Coast Guard Station Manasquan Inlet arrived to help the crew dewater their boat, which was then towed to shore, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
