I use a battery in the boat for two years, then it is replaced. I have two batteries in my system and therefore, I have one new battery every year.

I know I can get a lot more use out of the batteries in the boat but why take a chance. I use the batteries at home for other application where it doesn't matter as much if I get stranded with a bad battery.

Four years is probably the critical point where a battery will begin to show failure. I just don't want that to happen while I am 25 or so miles off shore.  t^

I would replace them every 2 - 3 years in a boat.

I won't go more than 3 years on batteries but usually replace them in 2. The water can be a dangerous place if you get stuck without power. Why take the chance and save only $150..
