Irish Ayes' official end of season
« on: November 10, 2008, 07:09:26 PM »
After getting a reprieve Wednesday from pulling the boat for the season, we made a last minute put together trip yesterday, Nov 9th.

Headed south of Shark River inlet and found some decent markings on the sounder. Lou, Andy, Johnny Oz and Bob G were today's fishing crew.

The fish were scattered today, one here, one there. Had to work pretty hard to find them.

We did put a dozen bluefish in the boat. Not one bass came in today. Not even a short. Everyone had fish but me. I did have some bumps, but not one hook up.  5hrug Oh well, that's fishing. Maybe I should have spent more time on deck than in the cabin.  rofla

Today, Monday, the 10th, me and Bob G managed to get to the boat at 545am. Hit the ocean, headed south and had our first fish in the box by 630am, a nice 33 inch striper, caught on a #6 Krocodile. Into the box for tonites dinner. (It was good too ;)) This was just a bit north of Spring Lake.

Though we would have a great morning. Stayed in the area working for more bass. None to come.

Headed further south and had a pick with blue fish.

Started back, had to get the boat to the travel lift by 9.

Found a GIANT school of blue fish at Shark River inlet. Birds were all over the place. Hooked up with some blues and but to call it quits.

Got to the travel lift a half hour late because of our last stop.  ;D

Had the boat pulled and blocked. Started unloading some gear. Will now be in withdrawal for a week or two.  :'(

Always a sad day when you pull the boat for the year.  The Queen knows to just stay away for a while the day I put mine to sleep.  On the good side you are one day closer to putting in back in the water.

Great job Capt.

You can always hop behind the helm on boat.  ;D

I would be more than happy to get the deck time.  ;D

Nice Joe! TT^ Were you jigging both days?    Fishing was lousy up in the Raritan, Sandy Hook area on Sat night.

Thanks guys.  t^

Eddie, yes, jigging both days. Left all the trolling gear home. I did hear guys 'saying' they were getting bass on the troll. Don't know how true that is as no one else was getting into the bass on a decent basis.

I am game to jump on a boat for a trip. If needed, I can even scare up a crew with very little problem. We will pay for all the fuel and bait.  TT^

nice report, Ill be in the water till December if temps are right. Last year, I had alot of fun with big bass when the herring showed up in December. If you don't mind the cold, you are welcome to come freeze your ass off with me out of liberty state park.I have alot of trouble finding partners for those trips.

Way to end the season of the Irish Ayes, Capt Joe!  You certainly did have a great awesome season.  I'm sure today was not the last for you this season...you are a 24/7 kind of fisherman ;D!!  Thanks for keeping us up to date and posted on the action.

Great season Joe and crew.  Thanks for all the stop action replays on your trips.  I for one am looking forward to next season already.  The offer still goes any time you want to pound the suds with your crew just give me a call I have enough equipment to go around.

There is still plenty of...Happy Catching left.
