Late Veterans Day report on The Fourth Dependent
« on: November 15, 2008, 11:11:59 AM »
Sorry for the late report....Launched out of liberty state park and headed to where I got my 27lber last sunday. I had three friends from work on the boat. One of which was a rookie bass fisherman named Tommy. Did my first drift and within 1/2 hour I had a take and lost it. About 20 mins later My buddy Tommy gets into a fish. I'm happy because it will be his first bass and I figured the rest of the day will be gravy. Anyway, he gets it to the boat and almost sh*ts himself, 31 lbs on the scale. His day is made. Well, we hit our next spot and dropped. Tommy hooks up immediately, this is a 16 lber. Where are the rest of our fish?? Well, he starts bustin the rest of us and we explain that the 16 is the normal size and how rare it is to get fish over 30. Head to the next spot, 2nd drift and Tommy gets into a fish that almost pulls him over the rail. This one tops out at 33 lbs. What the hell is going on?? No fish for us. At this point he is ecstatic and we(the veterans) are scratching our heads and looking at our rigs comparing them to his. All the same. ???? We head to our final spot of the long day and I finally get a fish and he congrats me while I'm reeling it in. I no sooner get the words out "don't ever congratulate me until the fish is in the boat" and it spits the hook at the top of the water. It looked about 30 or so inches. My other friend gets one about 10 lbs at same spot and then Tommy strikes again!!! A baby(for him) this time at 15lbs. Finished the day with 7 keepers. I managed a whistle fish of 6 lbs that stretched out to 28" even. Fun day to watch this guy kill em. Needless to say, he is hooked on bass fishing. All were caught on eels.
