laying on the couch this morning around 8:30,get a call from friend Ken want's to go Blackfishing at the Shrewsbury rocks,at first said no,wanted to winterize boat today but he talked me into it,knowing that slob he's thinking the more the merrier,he wants fishtails hanging out the box.so I get down there a little after 9:30,he gases up and we hit the Sayreville ramp a little after 10.heading out on his boat "The Breeze",Ken,his wife Hon and his friend mike.we hit his honey hole at around 11:15 and anchored up.This is the spot where we had non stop action on 2 previuos trips before the full season started.we had fresh clams for bait which is what we had the previous success on.we didn't do to well, the action was sparse, ended up with 4 keeper Blackfish,1 ling,2 large winter flounder that had to be released and I charmed in catching the largest spiny dogfish.Mike lost the only fishing pliers we had trying to get the hook out of a dogfish hanging in the water,Ken didn't have to many options for pliers,it was either a crescent wrench or channel locks,so we opted for the channel locks which suprisingly worked well for hook removal.headed in around 2:40,was glad to get off the couch and get out, always a great day to be on the water.
