Been using Gulp products since their release, heck, still have quite a few of their predassesor, Inshore Power Bait ;)
Usually just tip a bucktail with the Gulp swim mullet aka grub, but will say my last two trips recently, when adding a short strip of real squid, the catches were greatly improved. Plain grub caught fish, but seemed to attract smaller fish. Plain squid got hammered by seabass and "lost" quickly.
Both together produced much better results, a limit up to 6# and some seabass on one trip and some nice fluke in the 4-6# range topped off by an 8.5# flattie on another.
Seabass do bite the tails off these things rather quickly. Did hear rumor of a 6" version coming out t^
-
nice catch , you are right about the sea bass biting there tails off the gulp ,I went through a ton of it last week
-
Good info. I've gotta try using gulp more often.
-
I always add a very long strip of squid with my gulp also.
-
Works well with live killie and especially a live spearing along with it.
-
>:D If you guys say so.........

Yes MBoy I did! 1 fish t^ Of course that's about how my season is going 1 or 2 keepers here and there. Those fillets are getting expensive this year.

8.5# fish caught on 8/4/2007
Shirt would be cool TT^ Thanks!!!
Let me know what other info you need.
Been doing better with short strips actually. Too long and they like to fold over on the bucktail.
Oh, someone confirmed, 6" Gulp swim mullets/grubs available.
-
Nice catch and thanks for the tips!
-
The 4" swimming Minnow and a Kellie, Sand Eel or Spearing is Deadly TT^
-
Nice work on a great fish gottog...I have been using gulp for a while myself now and alot of people used to poo poo it and break my chops, now they are all using it religously... ;D
6" Swimming Mullet?? where? Where can I purchace this delicious gulp goodness??
-
Haven't seen it myself, but was told that they got it in a B&T around Pt. Pleasant. Trying to track down the person to steal, I mean see a few of em ;)
The 4" just gets lost on a 3 or 4oz Spro.
-
Good info for sure. Gulp Alive continues to be the hot new bait of the year.
-
Yeah, I saw this stuff. Its like $35 for a large jar. It seems like there are alot of bait in the container. It looks like a good deal since you can put older ones in there.
-
You know Nick since everyone on this site has got me into Gulp I'm intrested to see if anyone has any good reports on the Gulp Chum Bucket t^
-
i will not use the gulp chum. I like using my grinder and making my own fresh chum, and the gulp can be rather expensive also. I do like there products for fluke... TOP NOTCH..
-
I "may" give the gulp chum a try. A bit expensive BUT the container is resealable, so can me used on more then 1 occasion.
U know I am a big gulp fan.
-
Did anyone notice what the Gulp chum bucket sells for????
-
I believe I saw it for 25 or 35 bucks. THINK it was $25.
-
Thought I saw some guy win a shrk tournamanet or something while using the Gulp chum. 5hrug
-
Hey does it work in the suds? I might have to give it a try this year. I have a small chum thingie from the last seminar maybe I'll give it a try later in the season.

It works great in the suds honestly.. There are a couple of ways I use it fishing from the beach,, I use either a football jig head or a small bucktail White/ chatruse/ or pink, usually 1/2 oz up to an ounce..I will tip those two jigs with a 4" swimming mullet, white/chartruse/pink or a 4" pogy mullet.. I have some great days fishing these patterns for fluke..Try them You may catch all keepers but you will catch a lot and more than likely have some keepers mixed in.. t^
-
I know they work off the beach what I was talking about was the chum pots. I was wondering if weighted and thrown off the beach if they would attract larger fish to come in.
I have used bucktails for a while not and they work great. I use the SPRO pattern tipped with a white grub or a pink Fin-S and have done well.
Happy Catching

Sorry Paul, I misread you.. The Gulp chum looks interesting.. I wonder if it works for flounder or even stripers..
-
I got a small bucket from a seminar I took over the winter I will be trying later in the season for stripers off the beach. The only problem it will attract every dog fish for miles around as well.
Paul

Catch the dogfish and strip it out for bait. TT^
