Yes summers over and it's getting colder and that can only mean one thing...
It’s time for our 5th Annual NJSaltWater.com Black Fish Trip !!!!
Saturday December 7th ( a day that “Should” and will live in infamy )
This years trip, we have Capt Jack Bevins taking us to the Blackfish grounds aboard the Sea Horse !!! And Jack knows where the fish are !!! I caught a 13 pounder with him 2 years ago!!!

Post time is at 7am and return at 4pm ( all day Blackfishing !!! )

Price for the trip is $85.00…But Kenny, what do I get for my 85 bucks 5hrug
Your $85 bucks as in years past provides a FULL day of Blackfishing, Green and White Crabs !! and a tip for the mates ( please feel free to give more if you feel the mates have gone above and beyond t^)
Also included as is the tradition here at NJSWF.com... a chance to win a BEAUTIFUL custom made Blackfishing rod and reel rigged and ready to fish! We do it raffle style and I will post the specs after I have all the details nailed down...

Paypal payments need to be designated as money sent to friends( we're all friends here right!!??) or family(What a great fishing family we have here!!!??!!??).....THERE ARE NO fees for those transactions!!. The sender would pay a fee only if paid by credit card and not from a balance they have in account.

Yes. Depending on how far out the rounding of the 2.90% fee goes it should net $85 or $84.99

The Sea Horse is licensed for up to 75 anglers according to their website. There will be plenty of room to MUG your friends who are catching fish. cfzd hhppy clp

For anyone who does not really know this area here are a few helpful tips.
If you get off the Parkway at exit 117 and take 36 east the speed limit is 50MPH. Do not do over 50 as the local cops love to run radar on this road at all times of the day.
There are 3 NS bait and tackle stores on this road if you need any last minute equipment who are open early in the mornings.
There is a big WAWA in Leonardo just past the Earle Naval pier entrance. It is open 24 hours and also has gas pumps.
Once you make the jughandle onto 1st Avenue towards the marina the speed limit is 25MPH. Do not do over this as they love radar on this road. They like to sit within 2 or 3 blocks of the marina on either side of the road or in the parking lots of the stores. Besides catching people going fishing they are looking for people who are running late for the ferries and they make a lot of money this way.
These tips are from many years of fishing out of Leonardo and Atlantic Highlands.

Mugging is legal on all our trips t^ Just don't step away from the rail if you catch a big fish because 3 off us will be there ;D

I like power pro.. what you have sounds good.. add a 3way swivel to your rig, pup a weight on 12 lbs test off the swivel so if you get snagged, all you have to do is pull hard and the sinker will snap off without you losing your rig..

I just put 65# Power pro on my SX for the tog season Chris...( your 50# is just fine )I just take my 20# off that reel by spooling it onto an empty reel and save for next years fluke season...then switch back..
50# on the leader is fine....whatever line to line knot you like but pick one that you can tie with cold hands.. (I used the Albright )
I personally stay away from any 3 ways or swivels...just more to hang you up on the rocks...keep it simple...
Most guys like the " Belmar rig " for that reason, easy to rig with cold hands and get back in the water fast...

Why not use one of your old Penns? The one thing I know about blackfishing is that, for the most part, the reel doesn't matter. You don't need to cast far (if at all) and you don't need a smooth drag.
It's only function is as a winch. So lock down your drag and go get 'em! slt
Oh yeah. The Belmar rig for sure. No hardware other than a hook. The simplest and best way. t^

The best way to get the most out of this site is to participate in the trips/events and banquet we put together every year. I have made some great friends that way and I consider them my extended family...

Been looking for ways to make them both happen.. but It's just not going to work.. So I will not be making the trip :-\ Joe and Kenny have it under control. I know everyone will have a good time. I will miss it.

Getting closer to “D” day here guys with just 3 days to go and just wanted to go over a few things….
As stated on the first page of this thread, boat departs at 7am SHARP ! and returns around 4pm…For anyone running late/flat tire etc. My cell is 973 727-4699…Please call and let us know you are on the way…
Also,
Please try to be there early, we have a lot of people and gear to get on board and there is no boarding order on these trips…you get up early you get a good spot…you sleep in and…well you get what you get….
As you know Trish is bringing food for us to munch on…But do bring food for yourself as well…Trish is not bringing enough food for everyone for the whole day…just some goodies.
If you don’t have rigs tied you better get tying…your gona loose rigs, and weights etc. Be prepared…Terminal tackle will be available on the boat for purchase for those that need.

The tip has been built into the $85.00 but please feel free to tip additional if you feel the mates have gone above and beyond…
Our Rod and Reel raffle gets pulled on the way out in the morning so the winner can use the new setup on the trip. It will be spooled up and ready to fish !!

Then for lunch I have two 3ft sub's, one RB and Ch and the other Turkey and Ch both with everything on them but dry; the O/V and prob mayo will be on the side( if you don't want or like CH you can take it off; it was easier for me to get them with then have another platter) Lots of varieties of chips and for something sweet I have brownies and cupcakes! Enough for 35-40 people! And yes I am making everything BUT the subs. Hope this is doable for everyone!

When I moved here from NY, I was told that Scrapple was basicaly that SCRAPple, meaning lips,butt and anything left over in between....YUMMY!!! Honestly though Habbersett makes a seasoned version that is really good( Can even get it in Florida now- for what that's worth in this conversation about food on our trip!!!LOL) :P

NW 15 kts with gusts up to 25 kts. 3-5 ft seas, rain likely in am. I would not take my boat out , but the Seahorse is a much larger vessel. Trust in Captain Jack, its his call to make . I'm ready to go.

Rules and Pools for tomorrow…
Mugging is not only legal…but expected !!! (I’m personally bringing my roller skates )
Even with the low temps tomorrow please remember Hydration is still crucial !!
The Rod and Reel Raffle will be drawn on the way out so the winner ( Paule ) can use the new outfit !!
The funk can and should be unlimited !!! if you have any requests see Paule. ( he’s the guy with the new fishing pole…

As mentioned before, a modest tip has been built in for the mates…but please feel free to add to that if you think they went above and beyond…( like when they’re cleaning your catch )
I suggest we run a $5.00 pool and I would like to see everyone involved to make it interesting…It’s only $5 bucks…$ 5 X 34 guys is a nice payday..$170 ( Paule Again !! )
There will be a second place prize for the runner up fish but… you have to be in the $5.00 pool to be eligible …so bring an extra 5 bucks !! What’s the prize? It’s a surprise …..
Remember if you are running late to call me with your excuse…if it’s a good one we’ll talk it over and take a vote and wait…
