Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

Hello All,  I found NJSWF while looking online for a local NJ fishing magazine that I could subscribe to. There are many to download or just read online but I haven't found one I can have delivered.  Our family has a summer bungalow in Lake Como, NJ but I don't live in the area anymore.  I get down there about 3 times a year, mainly in early spring and late fall.  Just got back into surf fishing after about 30 yrs. and was looking for advice.  It's not at all like riding a bike.  Dismal luck this fall (2013) with the stripers. Just looking to learn.  Never too old.  All the best...

Welcome to NJSWF. slt

Fishing technics have not changed much in 30 years, what has changed are the regulations, rods, reels and electronics.and some pretty innovative new baits "Gulp" for one and lures.

As Skip "Pops Soul" stated "The Fisherman" weekly mag is good, I would also subscribe to "On the Water" Ny,Nj edition. It's a monthly magazine that I find helpful and full of information too.

I found this site while looking for a NJ Saltwater Fishing Magazine.  I have restoked my love for fishing after a 30 year break from it.  A short uninteresting story.  Just got back into surf fishing for stripers again with no luck this past fall.  Probably the worst week of fishing of my life.  Anywho...there's next spring.  I live in upstate NY now and the family still has a bungalow in Belmar, NJ.  I get there usually in early spring to open the place up and again in late fall to close.  This is mainly when I fish.  No real interest in freshwater though when I did, basically trout. Sold my ocean worthy boat in the early 2000's but still have a 20' pontoon and 2 aluminum boats (12' & 14').  They are more conducive to my home area needs now.   That's about it for me.  Would be happy to help anyone if I can.  Hopefully I can make a valuable contribution to the site one of these days.  Looking forward to sharing.  See you in the spring and will report.  All the best.
