Yesterdays report.

Fished the bay late this afternoon. The weatherman was a lier again. The wi*& was blowing pretty stiff out of the south AGAIN! Got a nice 19 inch fluke on the first drift and that was it. First time this year I did not get any shorts. At about 7 PM the birds started working on the flat near the stakes. Cocktail blues were feeding on spearing. Loaded up on some blues for some beer battered bluefish tomorrow night.

thank you to the people that welcomed me to the site. now i am gonna ask some advice of the great bayers out there: i'm new to great bay, have some family in mystic, came up from southern nj in search of a different type of fishing.(those who have fished the southern waters will understand) I'm trying to find a "shortcut" if you will from the mullica to the stink house without having to follow the channel markers on the northern part of the bay. Followed a few through on sunday with a low tide and no problems except i don't own an accurate plotter, yet, or i would have marked it, i know the channels are pretty tight. so any hints or help i can get i would greatly appreciate the little bit of time and gas savings.
I find when taking shortcuts the GPS is pricelss. I run around at dead low and plot what little channel is there and then run em at any tide following my marks. Even a $90 portable in a bracket on the dash works fine.
Anyway for a report I ran out to the wreck bouy figuring I would hit the motherload and didnt catch a single fluke. I did mange a 22 and 25 when I got back inside.

Was a great weekend for bass fishing, finally graduated to the 40 lb class and caught 3 30 lb and 1 25 lb bass to go along with the 40 lbs. Godda get out super early to beat all of the "out of towner" traffic.

Pete,

Wish I could help out but I have not gotten out much this season at all. I am still looking for a boat. The clam stakes are usually good for fluke, but I am sure there will be a high throw back percentage.

Great Bay Junky is the man to give you some answers.

Fished the Friday and Saturday. Had 3 keepers on Friday but would have had 4 do to the lack of a net man. Left around 5 when the fog got real thick and I was the only fool out there. Saturday  we got 6 keepers with me being the high hook w/ 5 keepers. I will be giving it a try again tomorrow if the East Winds are not to bad.
This too shall pass.
