P.C. Richards Does The Right Thing!
« on: November 24, 2011, 10:54:53 PM »
At a time when the little guy seems to be getting squeezed more and more by Wall Street and big corporations, P.C. Richards stepped up big time for their workers and their families by refusing to open on Thanksgiving Day! t^

this can be debated.  My company always opens up the day after Thanksgiving with no choice.. BUT... It is a premium day which means OT.

If the companies gave a choice to their employees, thats one thing, forcing them is another thing.

At my job, I don't have a choice.... but I do have employment..

By no means am I knocking this post, but some things are very debatable, either way.

we complain that we have to work, then we complain that we are laid off.  Lets be thankful we have a job.  If i owned a retail store, I would be open on Black Friday.  Wouldn't you?

 whs

Nick, I think you may has misread the post.  They are refusing to open on Thanksgiving Day, not on Black Friday.  I admire them for sticking up for their associates and the American family. t^

One other thing I want to mention is that most retail employees don't receive time and a half or any kind of premium for working on a holiday.  They just get a different day off.

I think most retail associates expect to work on holidays like Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day and the like.  But, some holidays, like Thanksgiving, need to be preserved for the family.  After all, what else are we working for?
