2012 Gas Prices
« on: February 25, 2012, 05:24:30 PM »
Theres alot  of talk of gas prices for the upcoming season some people say 5 dollars some people say 7 i know its hard to tell at this point but i think we can all agree this deffinately does have a negative impact on the boating community.

I for one will be fishing the same amount if not more. I spend way to much and maintenance and storage to keep me down.

Would be nice to get more friends on board to help split expenses but when it comes down to it either way my boat's leaving the dock.

the only way to fix this problem for me is, just have to have more people tag along to help split the costs.  There will be less solo trips, or 2 man trips.  Have to try to swing 4 man trips instead to make it reasonable yet comfortable.

Spending a little more to do something I enjoy won't bother me as much as having to shell out more $$ to get to work every day.

I took the gamble.. and lost.. usually gas prices are cheaper in the winter.. so I waited to cap off my tanks... looking back, not such a good idea...   Either way, I have a boating budget to start the season, so the first fill up isn't a problem.. going forward will be if I don't get enough crew members.  Since I am in Toms River, I burn much more gas hitting the inlets as I did in AH.  I might just put a rod on the back of my wave runner and go solo... LOL..  I think I can fit 2 stripers on the back of it.. lol

I think you will see less boats on the water for sure....or maybe more boats inside and fewer outside up by us anyway....

3.89 UP here BUD--Unless WE-Americans open up our oil--Could be 5.00 by the summer

on any boat will be more

Less people fishing from shore
Along with that everything goes up
Bait--Tackle-Food (joke already)
Many people will --Just say no to going as often

Only thing good  nosmly nosmly nosmly is less traffic getting to your boat.

It's what "they" want >:D

We have already seen all the boats JUST sitting for years now.

I think there is a limit. They know how far they can raise it before people really cut back.

Marina doesn't want you filling from cans.  :headscra:

for me its not so much the boat fuel (only twenty horse yahmaha on 14' alum boat). Its the truck fuel to get down there.

I live in hunterdon county, I tow the boat over a hundred twenty miles round trip with my diesel truck getting about 10-12 mpg.  if gas hits 5, diesel is hitting 3.50 for sure...i'm going to be over fifty bucks just to get to the ramp.  Guess i'm sticking more with freshwater fishing this year...got 2 reservoirs and the delaware river within minutes of the house....not to mention free ramps!!
It is to be observed that 'angling' is the name given to fishing by people who can't fish.

I don't have a boat,  but the fuel prices(along with a paycut)  will definitely effect my fishing.  There will be fewer trips to the water this year.  And less cash spent on tackle.
