Chance of Severe Weather Friday Night June 22, 2012

With the high daytime temperatures and humidity and a cold front pushing through the area on Friday, evening and overnight showers and thunderstorms could become severe!  The Storm Prediction Center has issued a 15% chance of Severe Weather for Friday into Saturday.  The main threat will come after 5PM and will mainly consist of severe thunderstorms capable of producing high winds and microbursts.

Accuweather's call on the severe weather for tomorrow/Friday.  They are calling for "HEAVY" Thunderstorms for the area!

Already some stronger storms popping up.  As the day progresses and daytime heating occurs, these storms will become stronger and even severe with strong winds!

strong thunderstorm 8 miles northeast of Toms River... moving
northeast at 15 mph. The thunderstorm will be near Bay Head around
1020 am.

Very heavy rain will fall from this storm... and will cause water to

Accuweather's Senior Meteorologist Henry Margusity has upgraded the severe weather threat for the are to "Intense" Storms citing winds from these storms from 40-70 mph!

* AT 101 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
  VERY HEAVY RAIN FROM A THUNDERSTORMS OVER EASTERN OCEAN COUNTY.

* LOCATIONS IN THE WARNING INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO TOMS RIVER.

THE HEAVY RAINS WILL AFFECT TRAVEL ON THE GARDEN STATE PARKWAY AS
WELL AS STATE ROUTES 72...37...70 AND 35 AND U.S. ROUTE 9. DO NOT
DRIVE THROUGH FLOODED ROADWAYS.

RAINFALL OF AROUND 2 INCHES HAS ALREADY FELL ACROSS THE WARNED AREA.

The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for NJ, NY, PA & CT(obviously after multiple Severe Thunderstorm Warnings in OC/MC!)

NJ Counties include:
Bergen, Burlington, Camden, Essex, Hudson, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren as well as adjacent Coastal Waters

Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for Severe Thunderstorms.  Keep your eye to the sky and your ear to the radio!
