Rick A little more the that

Whole story

Raymarine does not supply the nmea cable to plug into the c120--(split cable)-on the split cable there is a rs connector and a 3 wire connector--which he could use -BUT his GPS ant. is plugged into The 3 prong one-so he could splice into the ant. cable with the 3 wires and would work BUT for the ease of it and not takeing away a straight connection the seatalk cable is better.

I think thats got it.   nts

Got Her Working t^

Last week I went to West Marine to order a NEMA Spur wire to a NEMA 5 Pin.  Yesterday Jason ran over to pick it up only to find that it was the wrong cable..  both ends had the 5 pin NEMA connector.. rgmn..

So I sat out back going over the "Instructions" again.. And found this statement on the next page..

IF it is more convenient to connect the NEMA spur to the GPS without using the NEMA connector, you can remove the connector and prepare the cable end as to the wire identification table below.. ( See Image 1) fcp

So I met Greg and Jason at the boat this afternoon and going by the NEMA Cable and the Nema connector wires..  we were able to hook them up accordingly..
(-VE out to -VE IN).. and So on...

Pilot fired right up with no Issues..

Now the Fun Part..  Taking her out in the bay and running her thru her learning process..  It said you needed 1/4 of a mile at 15 to 20 Knots..  So off we went.. ;D

Well this thing took us for a ride.. ;D ;D Covering I'd say more than a mile all over the bay.. probably due to the wind.. there were many times it failed and many times it was on a crash course to another boat or land and we had to abort..  after reviewing the tracks we set ourselves up in a location that should give us the necessary room.. and this time she passed t^   Played around with some setting.. and she was dead nuts on!.. track home in slop / wind and current was straight as an arrow.. Back to the dock.  quick rinse and she's golden t^

So.. needless to say it was all right in front of my face..  fcp

good news there. Sometimes the answer is so obvious you over look it
Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

Glad to see Rod got her up and running.  Should be a decent difference in travel time with it running to the deep.

Glad to see you got it running

I guess we got our wires crossed--PUN intended

When I mentioned the Brown green orange and blue wires--the could go to the nmea wires from the power cable harness or the wires from your round plug--just cut and splice.

Enjoy it makes life soooo much easier.

note:  Be sure to keep an eye out though--they are NOT 100%  if know what I mean.

If your offsets and radar are intergrated it should let you know if you get too close to obstructions--boats land ETC.

Rod, autopilot does not mean you can sit on your deck chairs while the boat drives itself to the Tuna grounds. ;D

Just kidding bro.  Enjoy your new addition. t^
