This week will start off nice with the same weather we’ve had for the last several days. That will change on Monday Night with rain and showers and even a threat of strong to severe thunderstorms on Tuesday into Wednesday. Rainfall amounts could be in the 1-3 inch rain with locally higher amounts possible. This could cause some local flooding and flash flooding conditions. By Wednesday Night the storms will end leaving sunny and clear conditions for the end of the week and likely into the weekend. High temperatures will be in the 70’s and even low 80’s during the week with lows in 50’s and 60’s. The long period swell from Hurricane Nadine should be out of the area by the start of the week. Water conditions for the week are going to need to be watched. Monday is looking at good ratings for Monday, Thursday and Friday in all locations, however Tuesday and Wednesday are looking cautious to hazardous for all locations with Small Craft Advisories for winds as high as 30 knots and seas at 6+ feet. This is from a large low pressure gradient with a strong southerly flow ahead of the front and a strong northwesterly flow with it and behind it. By Thursday conditions should begin to return to normal and are rated good, however seas will still be around 4 feet at 6 seconds.
High pressure that has dominated the area will begin to move east by the start of the week being replaced by a SLOW moving cold front with areas of low pressure along it. This front won’t completely move through the area until Wednesday. High pressure will build in behind it for Thursday through the remainder of the week and for right now, most of the weekend.
