Thanks Everyone! Used might be the way to go, it was my origional plan. F#@% Allstate (just might change my auto & homeowners policy too. Wind, tide & load eat horsepower, the more the merrier. Delaware is not that far. Leftovers work for me, thats what I was working on. <'((((><
Sorry about the raw deal you got from your boat dealer and insurance agent. Some things just ain't right.Just an FYI.If you go to Delaware to buy the boat, you won't pay sales tax then, but when you register it in New Jersey Motor Vehicles will hit you up for the tax. Think twice if the dealer tries to talk you into registering the boat in Delaware. The dealer will tell you that you will save on sales tax. That you will, BUT, if you keep the boat in NJ the State Police, Marine Division, will ticket you and you will then have a fine AND the NJ State Sales Tax to pay. Not worth the hastle. As part of my job, I went to a Marine Law Enforcement class that the State Police put on. During their slow times, the Marine Police Officers (Troopers) motor around marinas and check for Delaware registrations on the boats. I know this for a fact, I was with them when they did that. They will then contact the owner and send them a summons for improper registration. They will also notify Motor Vehicles about the sales tax and you will hear from them.
save where you can when buying a boat.. you will need the extra money.
