Approaching the holiday week, this week will be a wet week and mostly cautious water conditions. Precipitation will move in during the Sunday overnight into Monday Morning. Some areas could see snow or a wintry mix and the rest will have rain. I wouldn’t rule out any areas of the state that won’t potentially see some snow or wintry mix, but it will change over to rain by later morning to afternoon at the latest. This could make for a hazardous morning commute. Any precipitation should clear out for Monday Night, but rain will return for Tuesday with wintry precipitation across some northern areas. All day Wednesday and Thursday Day will see a return of sunshine with some clouds and increasing clouds into Thursday Night as rain chances return for Thursday and Friday and linger into Saturday. Rain does not look like a solid widespread event this week, but rather widely scattered to scattered precipitation. I wouldn’t rule out the potential for some Thunderstorms on Thursday or Friday as well. Highs will be in the 40’s and 50’s with some 60’s on Thursday. Overnight lows will still be in the 20’s and 30’s with some 40’s on Thursday before the cold front moves through. Water conditions will be cautious to hazardous on Monday will Small Craft Advisories and Gale Warning offshore. Tuesday through Friday will see a mix of good to cautious to hazardous conditions depending on location. Surf conditions will be ok to cautious with a day or two of good conditions possible in the middle of the week. Winds will be gusty and surf conditions could be high on Monday, Thursday and Friday with winds and seas settling on Tuesday and Wednesday. Surf heights could peak at 6-8+ feet this week. Water temperatures are in the upper 30’s to low 40’s still; a couple of degrees colder than last week. UV Index will be Low to High this week at 3-6/15.

A cold front is expected for Monday. A fast moving low pressure system will follow and move through the area late on Tuesday. High pressure will build into the region for Wednesday and move offshore on Thursday. The next cold front will come late in the week.

Saturday could have some showers during the day, clearing out for the night. Sunday will have a mix of sun and clouds. Highs will only be in the upper 40’s to low 50’s with overnight lows in the 30’s. Water, surf and beach conditions inshore will be borderline to good on Saturday and cautious to hazardous on Sunday and offshore will be cautious to hazardous both days.

Have a great week and thanks for reading!

Re: Tuesday Weather Update Rain & Snow
« Reply #1 on: March 31, 2015, 10:21:34 AM »
Winter is not over yet. Rain is possible after mid afternoon today with the heaviest to fall tonight. Daytime rain/showers could see some thunderstorms as well, especially across southern parts of the state. Tonight areas could see accumulating snow with 2-3 inches possible for Northwestern NJ. Winter Weather Advisories have been posted for these areas. A generalized area north and west of the I-95 Corridor could see a trace to an inch of accumulation. This will start off as rain, changeover to a mix and then snow. Changeovers could happen back and forth into early morning. Areas south and east of the I-95 Corridor will see mostly rain, but a mix or even flurries could be possible.

After looking at all of the maps, I'll have to agree with Matt.

Looks like we are going to have weather.

I think in the long range it will get warm.

Thinking July or so.

Thanks Matt.  t^
Fishing Sandy Hook and anywhere I can get on a boat.

Re: Rain & Thunderstorms for Good Friday
« Reply #5 on: April 03, 2015, 12:32:04 PM »
Some areas of the state have already seen some showers today. Rain will be on and off today as a front moves through the area. A generalized risk of thunderstorms is possible today with heavy rains and dangerous lightning. Very Southern parts of the state could see severe weather with heavy rains, dangerous lightning, damaging winds, hail and the tornado threat is very close to the state line. Be aware of changing conditions today and know how to get your warnings.

Be safe!
