Funky Munky Almost ready.
« on: April 21, 2008, 11:46:01 AM »
Well, did a tremendous amount of work Friday, Saturday and Sunday to get the boat ready.

1st, MANY, MANY, MANY thanks go out to those who broke their butt helping me out.

Young Gull is a machine who spent all of Friday and Saturday working on the boat.

-New bait well pump install
-Ran some new fuel line and installed fuel flo sensor
-mounted 2 new gauges in dash (water pressure and engine trim)
-moved over oil tank and installed 2nd battery tray
-drill 2 5" holes in gunwale and mounted my new speakers, then fished speaker wire thru.
-Mounted my new VHF and installed new antenna.

Special appearance by Sam3 to check on his boat

Saturday, with the addition of my buddy Kim and our very own WB, we:

-installed Bennett M120 Sport tab trim tabs
-wired up the backlighting to some of the new gauges
-installed a Lowrance LMF-400 NMEA network and gauge and powered to switch.
-straightened up some wiring in the helm.

We had some special guest appearances by our very own Duffman and Treebard Mark (and his buddy Johnny).

Sunday, back at it again.

Duffman came down and wired up the 2 rear speakers and straightened out the other 2 speaker wiring. Did some more cleaning up of the helm wiring and finished up VHF Install.
-Kim came down and help fix up my rub rail as well as remount the swim platform that gave us a bit of trouble on Saturday as we had to remove for the trim tab install.
-My buddy Paul came by to compound and wax the hull using some new stuff I bought (will review later).
The hull looks AMAZING now compared to what it was (and what it was last year)- superb job and the stuff he used was GREAT.
-Sam3 also down working on his boat as well.

Have some other minor stuff to finish up.
Should be painting bottom on Wed or Thursday (marina) and should be ready to go Friday or Saturday the latest).

Going to head back down Friday to try and finish up everything.
Try to head out Saturday to fish if possible.
Sunday Paul comes back to detail the  topsides.

Words can not express my appreciation for the help/work provided by Young Gull, Kim, WB and Duffman.
Not only would I not have the time to complete any of these tasks, I don't even have the skills these guys do in this area.

Thanks to each and every one of you for helping me get the boat ready.

Means a lot to have special friendships with those that offer their help while expecting nothing in return (OK, a few fishing trips :)

Means a lot to me that the boat should be ready in time for the water.

Means even more that I have friends who were willing to help (and carry most of the workload)without thinking twice about it.

Thanks again guys, I REALLY appreciate it!!!!

Will take some pics next week when she is ready :)

Holy crap! You did everything but whittle the hull out of a tree! Can't wait to see the pics, before and after.
PS - That's what that part of the alphabet would look like if there where no Q or R.

No before pics really (just ones from last year)m but will have after pics when she is all finished Soon.

Tabs weren't too bad except the missing template for the switch (WhIch Young gull did by hand-and a fantastic job at that)and the little problem remounting the swim paltform.

Other then that, it went fairly smoothly.

Young GUll can chime in as he and Kim did all the work ;)

Yeah I couldn't believe how it looked just after using the compound like cleaner he used.

Nautical Ease is the way to go. Stuff is GREAT.

I was pretty depressed seeing how bad the hull look on Friday when I got there.
I can not believe the complete 180 I feel after seeing just 1 coat of polish on it yesterday.

If I had more time, I would have done mine too. I can't believe how well that Nautical Ease works.

Paulie did his father's 40' Formula ealrier in the weekend using Yachtbrite stuff that cost almost 200 for the stuff.

He couldn't believe how well this worked and how easy it was. He is going to start using it himself.
His father came over to check it out and he was blown away as well.

REALLY great stuff.

Hey Mike, glad to hear you were able to get as much done, you must be a great supervisor!  Sounds like you will be in the water this weekend.  Good luck and tight lines.

Mike was this the polish used  ???

That's the stuff.

Used the fiberglass cleaner prior to the polish.

Didn't even need to use water to wash boat 1st.

Machines is right! Ed and Kim got a ton done!

She's shaping up nicely Mike, gonna be a nice season ahead.

Going to stop by the marina tonight to pick up the ladder. I'll leave the stainless mount in the boat for you.

Got to move that radio like I said. Easier to read and out of the way. Finish up the VHF connector as well. I'll talk to ya and figure out when after you splash down.

Sam and Mark, good meeting you guys, nice putting faces to the names.

Heres to a good season fellas   chrz
