SHARKS IN THE SURF PART 2
« on: July 21, 2008, 11:16:09 PM »
Friday, Aug 1st we will be trying it again. Island Beach State Park, in the area of A-10. We will be out there around 7pm, and staying the entire night . We will be chumming the surf,and launching out baits with surf rockets.I will be suppling baits for everyone to use a surf rocket,just show up with your rod and reel. Hopefully this time we will have beter luck in the hunt for sharks in the surf. The first shark caught over 100lbs, that angler will recieve a complete surf rocket fishing setup.There may even be a local b&t store willing to give a custom rod to the person who can burry their scale. More info on that to come.
The last time we did this,everyone that showed up had a great time. We will have a fire going on the beach,and even a few grills. So bring your dogs,marshmellows,or what ever you would like and enjoy a family fun night on the beach fishing. Being a state park there are fees to get in the park.You can drive in the park and walk on the beach for around 10 dollars,i think they charge by the car,not per person. There is a parking lot by A-10,and a path out to the beach.If you would like to drive on the beach, I think the 3day pass is 50 dollars. They do not sell 1 day passes. You must have a 4*4 and all of the required saftey equipment. If its anything like last time there will be plenty of people to help people get on the beach.
With all the chum we plan on putting out there, we should bring the fish in.So with that in mind even if you wanted to come out and fish the surf with out the surf rocket,it should be pretty good. Hope to see you out there.

Hi Ken,

The price to get onto the beach is as follows:

Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend
Sat, Sun, holidays    7 A.M. - dusk    $10.00
Mon - Fri            8 A.M. - dusk    $6.00

off season
everyday            8 A.M. - dusk    $5.00

Make sure you are there before dusk if you are not bringing any fishing equipment, they will not let you on after dusk.  At that point you will have to call someone on the beach to get you on and off.  Parking out side the park is limited because of the restaurants they are packed this time of year.

There is a 3 day permit and you are correct it is $50.00

NO alcoholic beverages are allowed in the Island Beach State Park.

IBSP is a Carry in Carry Out Park, please bring plastic bags for your garbage.  There are usually garbage bins at all parking areas to dispose of your garbage.  I hate picking up after people so please keep this beautiful resource clean.

I hope this helps... grtn

Happy Catching

Paul

I will probably be going also Rod.  Make sure you have a chair as well.  Here is the necessary equipment you will need to be able to get on.  Remember a 3 day pass is $50.00.  You can have one filled out at the entrance to the park the day you want to drive on.

Download an Annual Mobile Sport Fishing Permit application: Mobile Sport Fishing Vehicle Annual permit (PDF Format - 446 KB)

http://www.state.nj.us/dep/parksandforests/parks/island_beach_permit.pdf

The MSFV Permit will be issued only to the registered owner of the vehicle. Your mailed application for a MSFV Permit must include a photocopy of the vehicle owner’s registration and driver license. Those who have a leased vehicle must also include a copy of the lease document page(s) that show(s) that the vehicle is leased to the permit applicant. Those who apply for the MSFV Permit in person at the Island Beach gatehouse do not need to provide photocopies, but will be asked to present original vehicle registration, driver license and lease documents.
MANDATORY EQUIPMENT FOR A MOBILE SPORTFISHING VEHICLE (MSFV)

Permits are issued to 4-wheel drive vehicle owners for fishing purposes only. Carrying the basic equipment listed is required whenever the MSFV in on the beach.
1) Fishing equipment and bait and tackle for each person over 12 years of age;
2) Tire gauge;
3) Spare tire;
4) Workable jack and board/support for jack in sand (3/4 in. x 12 x 12 in. plywood square minimum size)
5) Tow chain or snatch line;
6) Shovel;
7) Flashlight;
8) Fire extinguisher;
9) Auto first aid kit;
10) Litter/trash bag;
11) Minimum of 1/4 tank of fuel.

A current tide chart is highly recommended.  Jumper cables for the vehicle's specific battery type are also recommended.

Happy Catching

Count me in.   t^
I have a beach pass so if anyone needs a ride in, I can help out.  But I'm not sure how long I'll stay, so I can't guarantee a ride out in the morning.
And I can supply some firewood for the cause.
Can't wait to meet everyone and learn.

Hi Ken,

When I was there over the weekend I did some scouting for you.  The parking area at A10 will hold about 12 or so cars depending on how close they park.  Walk in by the trail it should be about a 100 yard walk to the beach give or take.

See ya on Friday.

Happy Catching

Paul
