Waders?

So, for my upcoming birthday, my GF has offered to buy me a pair of waders.  I don't want to break her bank, but not get garbage, either.

Do you guys have any solid recommendations for a good pair?

Right now, I'm looking at these:

IMHO, if you're using these in the surf you should stay away from the stockingfoot waders.

I'm curious about those $79 breathables that Paul picked up from Betty and Nick's.  Hopefully, he'll see this and be able to shed some more light on the subject.  That price is about as good as I've seen anywhere for a bootfoot breathable wader.

Hi Ash,

I have to agree with evryone, stocking foot waders will be uncomfortable because of the sand getting into the boot plus other things.

Ash, they are having a great sale at Betty & Nicks till March 1st. you should be able to pick up a good pair there and they will not steer you wrong.  I like the pair I have and before you get them make sure you try them on before you buy.

I had to go up in shoe size to get a more comfortable pair.  Just a hint.

We were able to pick up a pair of Proline breathable bootfoots for a good price at Harry's yesterday.

They felt good and comfortable in the store.  Can't wait to get them wet in the spring!

Good going,

I am sure they will be fine.  There is a big difference in being able to wade in the surf as opposed to casting from the surf line.  Plus in the early Spring and late Fall they will keep you a lot warmer as well.

Good luck with them.Just an idea:sometimes I wear long johns tops and bottoms for that extra layer to protect against the chill(under the waders of cource). They havesome really nice LJs that wick any presperation away from the body and still provide warmth, and they are reasonably priced. You can find em in any of the catologs around.  AJ
