Went with my son yesterday and first fish was a keeper almost 15in.  A couple more shorts and some baby oyster crackers.  Green crabs, size five Virginia hook, four to five ounces of lead.

Got there as slack was just changing to going out and then out it went but they still were biting against the wall.  Left them biting.

Went thursday night around 11:00. Tide was still going out fast.  Caught 25"striper and a big blue that I couldn't get over the fence. Wasn't planning on catching anything that big if at all so I didn't bring the net or gaff.  rgmn

Nice 15inch blackfish, barely 14incher and some shorts in about an hour and a half around slack. Kept one.
On green crab.  Four to five ounces good.

More numbers, less size today.  One on the line, a lot at 13 and 1/2 or 13 and some really small ones too.  Fun to have some action.

Hit the Canal around 3:00 PM, just about time for the tide to start rushing out!  Stopped at --------- for some bait and tackle...met Capt Rich and another gentleman who works in the shop(didn't catch his name)for the 1st time.  Great shop, great prices, didn't have green crabs(got beat by a rush of guys just ahead of me...takes too long to get the kids out of the car ;D rgmn), but he set me up with some super fresh clams!  Got the tackle I needed, used the bathroom(4 year old can't hold it that long :-\) and the kids got fishing related tattoos and stickers.  Thanks Capt Rich...top notch business you run there slt.

Made it out to the Canal, tons of boat traffic, tons of cabbage, not many people fishing.  Fished clams for 2 hours or so with NADA.  Only got snagged 3 times though.  We had a good time anyway.  The kids waved to every boat that went through there.  Definitely wasn't the best time to fish the Canal, but you go when you can go.

Excellent.

We had a very unusual occurence.  After baiting up and throwing legs and shell in water, the largest tog I have ever seen came up and snatched the parts of crab and appeared to turn sideways almost like it was looking at us. With an eyewitness of my fishing buddy, it looked to be well over 10 pounds, the biggest I have ever seen in there.  Has anyone ever caught or sited one that large.

On top of that, first fish completely bottomed me out and then broke me off.  Was it this fish or another I do not know.  Also, had one in channel bend a size 5 Virginia hook and get off, this one was not that big but felt good.

Got a bunch of tricky shorts on greens, maybe soft bait would have been better today and got crushed by two tog.

Fish one today but I'll be back!
