On Sunday, Dan McGraw and Mike Garron left Long key marina in Waretown as
the sun was rising as usual on their 25' Steiger in search of some great
fishing.
They broke Barnegat inlet and headed North to fish with the rest of the
party boats and pack around the tires. After catching 12 short fish they decided
to move away. Headed South past Harvey Cedars they found some nice structure in
50' of water. It was getting late in the day and the drift was just starting to
pick up. They derided to change out their baits and loaded up a spro
bucktail with a green teaser trailing along. After 3 or four skates they decided
on one more drift... then Bang. Reeling the fish up and having some fun
thinking it was another skate, the fish surfaced and the game faces were
on. They netted the fluke and immediately wanted to get it on the scale.
The
Fluke measured and even 31 inches and weighed in at 11lbs. The arsenal that was
hit was Berkley 3" green gulp and spearing.
